Born on October 18, 1960 at Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, Brussels, Jean-Claude Van Damme is one of America’s top-hitting action actors who have definitely struck a heartbeat in this genre. Along with being a talented actor, Jean is also a well-established karate champion in Europe. He’s not only a martial arts expert and actor; he’s also a director and producer of a few action films. He’s been able to turn many action-lovers’ heads with his “360-degree karate kick to the head” and has done seemingly well in the movie industry.
Well, Jean didn’t start out very well in the action film industry. At first, we starred in the French action film, “Rue Barbare”. After hitting hard in this action film, he decided to take the move to the United States in order to seek more glory as a martial arts expert/actor. He started off taking part in a few films before 1988, but the roles he played were not very significant. He finally hit some more significant roles in the year 1988 in which helped him gain more status as a martial arts-based actor in the movie industry. He starred in “Bloodsport”, “Kickboxer”, and “Black Eagle”. Even though these movies did not land him in millionaire status due their low budgets, he was still able to kick-start his career.
He’s played in significant roles in various films, such as “Double Impact”, “Universal Soldier”, Nowhere to Run”, “Universal Soldier 2”, “Universal Soldier 3”, “Sudden Death”, “Double Team”, “Knock Off”, “The Quest”, “Time Cop”, “Street Fighter”, and a part in the newest comedy-action film “The Expendables 2”. Even thought Van Damme has been away from the action film scene for quite a while, he’s still been able to claim his right as one of the most decorated action heroes of all-time.
As an action star, martial arts experts, director and product, Jean-Claude Van Damme has worked hard to keep up his net worth of roughly $8 million. Even though he’s had struggles with cocaine addiction in the late 1990s, he’s overcome the trials and continues working on more projects leading towards to the future.
